Another year done By Fiona Coward

Respect to all the riders who tackled the mountains of Sabie. It's never easy - no matter if you're riding the Experience or the Lite.

More than 700 riders arrived for the four days and we were blessed with amazing weather. The routes had been meticulously designed by Dennis and he and Glenn (Lite Race Director) spent hours with their teams clearing the paths and single track. The results were simply stunning single track through ancient forests and wicked descents off the high mountains.

When you've raced in Sabie, you know all about it.

A big thank you to all our sponsors without whom we would not be able to put on the race - Spar Lowveld, Komatiland Forests, York Timbers, Coke/Powerade, Mpower FM, Powasol and NTT Toyota. To all the businesses in Sabie who helped out in a number of different ways, we appreciate the support.

The entire crew wish you and your families a restful Festive Season and a prosperous New Year.

Thanks for supporting our race and we'll see you on the trails.

Powasol Power and other matters By Fiona Coward

Your Bike has never had it so good.

Powasol has thrown down the gauntlet to the mud and rain at Sabie and guarantees to turn your bike into a sparkling, as new, machine.

Book your bike wash online between now and the event (13th December). Powasol offers a special prepaid rate of R 120.00 once off (Wash, polish and lube every day) or a prepaid amount of R 35.00 per wash for 1 – 4 days (wash, Polish and lube). On the day payment will be R 45.00. (I mean, have you ever polished your bike, no - thought not. Get the experts to show you)

If you book before the 13th December, you'll be in line for one of 5 pre paid lucky draw prizes worth R700 each: ( 1 x 5 Litre Powasol, 1 x 750ml Liqui Polish, 1 x 125ml Green Mamba Lube, 1 x 125ml WaxoLube, 1 of each 20ml for while riding lubrication, 1 x Chummy Cream, 1 x Brake Cleaner)

PLUS you can win a free entry. If you have pre-paid before the 24th November, you can win a free team entry.

And that's not all - Two lucky Powasol Facebook Page and Twitter followers will win a Powasol Hamper valued at R 1000.00 each.

Payment:  Pay into the same account as your entry fee - The Sabie Experience and give your name/POW as reference.
Email us for account details if you don't have them anymore. fiona@sabiexperience.co.za

Update on route By Fiona Coward

The final landowner access has been finalised, the single track routes are being cut and we're running around getting the trails in tip top shape for you.

The Sabie Experience distances and ascent are as follows:
Prologue:         30km   630m
Stage Two:       70km  1650m
Stage Three:    66km  1650m
Stage Four:      57km   1350m

The Sabie Lite:
Prologue:         21km  340m
Stage Two:      31km  630m
Stage Three:   29km  550m
Stage Four:     37km  750m

The route descriptions will be up with a week subject to any last minute changes due to rain or forestry operations.

Roll on December.

Initial entries close soon By Fiona Coward

Initial entries for this year's Sabie Experience close at the end of September. Thereafter, late entries will attract a penalty of R250 so don't miss out.

The solo entries for the Experience are almost full too so if you're wavering, get in fast.

Something new:
We've opened up the first two stages of the Sabie Experience Lite to 13 and 14 year olds only. At a cost of R300 they can ride the Prologue and Stage two, get a time and a medal.  So if your youngster is a keen cyclist, they too can join in the fun. Unfortunately no adults can ride just the two stages. However, you may enter the full event, ride the first two with your kid then carry on over the next two days. Everyone's a winner!

The Lite distances are on the website (21km Prologue/31km/29km and 37km). The Experience provisional distances are 30km Prologue/70km/66km and 57km).  The route descriptions for the Experience will appear towards the end of September once certain land permission has been finalised.

Enjoy the warmer weather and we're looking forward to seeing all of you in December.

What you can expect in 2011 By Fiona Coward

Its strange to be thinking about December already but with the months flying by, it will soon be here.  So here is some initial information.

Dates: 15th - 18th December
Entries Open: May 16th

Sabie Experience Teams: R3 400 (250 only)
Sabie Experience Individuals: R1 700 (50 only)

Sabie Lite Teams: R1 800 (250 only)
Sabie Lite Individuals; R900 (100 only)
(Still a timed ride - not a race)

The route information will be released in August as it depends on logging operations but expect it to be similar to 2010. Book accommodation early as always. There won't be a training camp this year as it got too large and many of the riders did not support the actual race.
